Book Club Recommendations: “I Sleep In Hitler’s Room” by Tuvia Tenenbom
Looking for the next piece of Jewish literature for your book club?? I’ve got a story I highly recommend. I Sleep In Hitler’s Room is Tuvia Tenenbom’s recollection of his travels to Germany, where he discovers a deeply-rooted underbelly of antisemitism almost in accidental fashion. I recommend it so strongly not just because it is a fantastic, insightful, comical journal, but because it’ll be great for your book club to debate and discuss. Antisemitism is prevalent throughout Tenenbom’s travels, but it is not the only controversy. The difference in Eastern and Western cultures, right wing vs. left wing, definitions of the German national character… just a small sampling of the debatable topics tackled by this fantastic journalist.
